LGU Thankful to LGW for the Municipal Library Project

Last August 29, 2012 the inauguration of the birthing clinic of the Gigaquit Rural Health Unit, the 2-room building of the Gigaquit Central Elementary School and the Gigaquit Municipal Library were done with Surigao del Norte Gov. Sol F. Matugas in attendance, together with the Provincial Officials of Surigao del Norte.

During this occasion, Gov. Matugas also distributed school materials such as ba
gs, slippers, notebooks, papers, ballpens and pencills to kindergarteen and Grade-1 pupils of Gigaquit Central Elementary School and big plastics trash boxes to all the schools of Gigaquit.

She was impressed with the three projects that was blessed and turned over to the proper entities, specially the municipal library which she said ought to be established by every LGU. She said that during a trip in Germany, one of the places recommended by local authorities for visiting was their libraries.

The Gigaquit Municipal Library is being put up by the LGU with the assistance of Lumad Gigaquitnon Worlwide (LGW) which contributed money, books and aircon unit.

Mayor Carlos M. Egay thanked the members of the LGW for this wonderful contribution of Gigaquitnons living abroad and those based in the Philippines but outside of Gigaquit, who continually think of what they can do for the development of their town.

He lauded the members of the LGW for their love for Gigaquit and their fellow Gigaquitnons. He said this is the kind of thought and feelings that Gigaquit needs.

Mayor Egay hopes LGW members abroad will come home soon to visit their beloved hometown so they will see for themselves the actual situation and thereby constructively able to submit proposals for the good of Gigaquitnons.
