Provincial Tourism Staff Assessed Gigaquit Tourist Spots

The Provincial Tourism Staff headed by Mr. Amor Morales, the Culture and Arts Officer of Surigao del Norte, visited the Municipality of Gigaquit last August 13, 2012. The guests were warmly welcomed by the Municipal Tourism Officer, Mr. Alvin A. Egay together with other tourism staff.

The guests conducted an assessment for the existing and potential tourist spots in the municipality. First destination they went was the Gigaquit Agra Multi-purpose Cooperative (GIAMUPCO), where the famous Gigaquit wine is being processed and bottled.  The Mun. Tourism Officer discussed and explained some points of our locally-made wine product "Las-Ay" or better known as Gigaquit Rhum, as to how it is being processed, bottled then sold to the market.

Next destination they visited was the Cagban Island.  The group was amazed as they took some pictures of the island for its pleasing view lined with white sand and natural blue water.

The following day, the guests went to the proud tourist spot of the municipality, the "Cuyapnit cave". They felt overwhelmed as they experienced the adventure riding the motorized boat and the extraordinary vehicle, the so-called "habal-habal" going to the cave. Then, they explored a bit of the inside of the cave.

The guests commented that these existing tourist attractions of the municipality have some chance to be famous in the tourism industry.
