162nd Annual Town Fiesta



Gigaquitnons celebrated the 162nd annual Town Fiesta last August 18-29, 2012 in honor of their Patron Saint Augustine. The celebration was highlighted by various activities in which the people of Gigaquit participated and had much enjoyment.

Below was the Calendar of the Fiesta Activities:


 August 18
- Opening of the Reinforced Basketball and Beach Volleyball Tournament



August 19
-  A Walk for a Cause headed by the Saint Augustine Parish Pastoral Council, followed by the first Novena Mass, attended by all.
-  The 1st Mayor Carlos M. Egay Sr. Mountain Bike Challenge add color on that day as it was joined by participants from Butuan City and the Municipality of Claver.

August 24
-  The 3rd Las-ay Festival and Awarding Ceremony of the Reinforced Basketball and Beach Volleyball Tournament.

August 25
-  Fiesta Opening Program. It started with a parade in the town; Followed by the opening program. The “Sajaw Gigaquit” was presented showcasing the festivals of Gigaquit (The Gakit, Las-ay and Jinawa Festivals)


August 27
-  DLC Presentation participated by different schools such as Gigaquit National School of Home Industries (GNSHI), Surigao Norte National High School (SNNHS), Taganito National High School (TNHS) and Saint Augustine Institute.
-  In the evening, the Cultural Show was held with the theme “ Noon, Ngayon at Bukas “ .
August 28
-  The Fiesta Celebration proper of our Patron Saint Augustine Institute.
-  In the evening, the Coronation of Miss Donna Monique N. Fugnit, our Miss Gigaquit 2012 together with her princesses Miss Janice V. Cubelo, representing the LIGA ng mga Barangay and Miss Michelle P. Amarille representing DepEd.


August 29
-  Inauguration and Blessing of various projects of LGU-Gigaquit.
-  Doyum nan Pasalamat and Coronation of Ginang CSO 2012.

The Hon. Mayor Carlos M. Egay expressed his gratitude to the people responsible in making the 162nd Annual town Fiesta a big success!
