GIGAQUIT SUMMER SPORTS TOURNAMENT 2013

“Winning or losing doesn’t matter, what matters most is how we play the game“, this lines motivated the Gigaquitnons so much as they celebrated their “Summer Sports Tournament 2013”.

The Local Government Unit of Gigaquit in coordination of the Municipal Tourism Office headed by Mr. Lee Dedumo  OIC-Tourism Officer, conducted summer sports activities; The Gigaquit 1^st Beach Football conducted last April 7, 2013 (Sunday)and Beach Volleyball Tournament conducted last April 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, 28, 11, 12, 18, 19, (Saturdays and Sundays).

115th Independence Day

The 115^th Independence day was successfully celebrated last June 12, 2013, with the theme: “Kalayaan 2013: Ambagan tungo sa Malawakang Kaunlaran.” It was well attended by Local Government Unit officials of Gigaquit headed by the Municipal Mayor Hon. Carlos M. Egay, Sr., SB Members, Department Heads, employees, DepEd teachers, students from elementary schools and high schools and the general public.

Bloodletting

       Part of the activities in the 115th Independence Day celebration was a bloddletting held at Multipurpose hall last June 19, 2013 with a theme " Give the Gift of Life:DONATE BLOOD". The said activity was sponsored by the LGU with the ccoperation of Rural Health Unit headed by Dr. Maris May A. Pillado, MD.

4th Gakit Festival 2013

The 4^th Gakit Festival was successfully celebrated last March 31, 2013, guided with the theme: “Atong lantawon balik ang tinubdan para giya sa atong kalamboan”, held at Gigaquit Beach, Gigaquit Surigao del Norte.

Inauguration of Gigaquit Center for Women's Training and Development

The Gigaquit Center for Women’s Training and Development was successfully inaugurated and blessed last December 10, 2012. It was attended by the Provincial Governor Sol F. Matugas, Vice Governor Arturo Carlos Egay Jr. together with the Provincial Board Members, DOLE Regional Director Ofelia B. Domingo, Department Heads of the Provincial Government of Surigao del Norte, LGU Officials/ Dept. Heads and Employees, Department of Education family, Gigaquit Women’s organization and others.

Rizal Day 2012

The 116^th Anniversary of Martyrdom of Dr. Jose P. Rizal was successfully celebrated last December 30, 2012 guided with the theme “Rizalismo: Sandigan ng Kaunlaran, Pagkakaisa at Kapayapaan”. It was well attended by LGU officials, Brgy. Officials, DepEd Family and some citizens. It is in commemorating the essence of Rizal’s greatness, sacrifices and the use of his many talents and intellect to fight against Spanish colonizers who abused and tormented the Filipino people.
