115th Independence Day

The 115th Independence day was successfully celebrated last June 12, 2013, with the theme: “Kalayaan 2013: Ambagan tungo sa Malawakang Kaunlaran.” It was well attended by Local Government Unit officials of Gigaquit headed by the Municipal Mayor Hon. Carlos M. Egay, Sr., SB Members, Department Heads, employees, DepEd teachers, students from elementary schools and high schools and the general public.

The celebration started with a Flag Raising Ceremony, followed by a parade. Afterwards was a holy mass and a short program.

After the program, picnic at the freedom park and doot beach makes the celebration more enjoyable. There were also videokes installed at the park. Everybody was pleased and valued the essence of being free.
Independence Day reminds us of the sacrifices made by our great leaders who fought hard for our freedom. Let this remain not just part of our history but also live in our hearts and minds. Let this freedom be the driving force for everyone and all sectors to unite and be partners towards a more progressive Gigaquit and a better country as a whole.
