Because of the eagerness of the
Provincial Government to reduce the mother-child death during giving birth, the
Province of Surigao del Norte initiated the SEARCH FOR BUNTIS QUEEN 2012, held
at Surigao City. Gigaquit municipality’s representative was MRS. MARILOU STA.MARIA DEGRAN, who fortunately got the title of
BUNTIS QUEEN 2012 of Surigao del Norte!
Because of that achievement, the
municipality of Gigaquit was inspired and initiated also a search for BUNTIS
QUEEN that was participated by the pregnant women in the town. In the morning,
they were screened and checked-up by an OB- GYNE with the help of the Rural Health Unit (RHU)
Gigaquit. There was a seminar also about the health importance of the mother
and child at the womb, and a seminar about cause and precautions of CERVICAL CANCER. On that evening the lovely pregnant mothers made their walk
like ramp models . . . they were proud and healthy mommies. The title of BUNTIS QUEEN went to the participant from Anibongan, the
2
nd to Ipil, and the 3
rd to San Antonio.

Mayor Carlos M. Egay Sr., Mrs. Marlaine Egay, the Rural Health Unit of Gigaquit
headed by Dr. Roland Mira and the Women’s Association of Gigaquit.
