A 3 day Barangay Disaster Preparedness Training was
successfully done last November 22-24, 2012 with the theme “Hiniusang Barangay
sa Kalamidad Magtinabangay”. It was held at the Municipal Multi-Purpose Building.
This
was participated by the Barangay officials; representatives from People’s
Organization, farmer’s group, women’s group, youth, church, LGU selected
volunteers and LGU drivers.
The facilitators were from the staff of the Provincial
Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office and from the Bureau of Fire and
Protection Team (EMT Trainer) namely: Gilberto Gonzales, Jed Richmond E. Ruaya,
FO1 Robert M. Egay, Gabriel S. Sacro, Sheila May Estrada, FO1 Barlou Cabiling,
FO1 Peter Vincent Gesta, FO1 Louis Benjamin Calderon and Michael dela Cruz.
The purpose of the training is to provide the
participants the knowledge and skills on how to respond appropriately during emergencies
to reduce disaster risks. The facilitators discussed and demonstrated some sort
of emergency topics such as Basic Life Support; these include how to do the
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to an adult, child and infant, Rescue
Breathing and Principles of emergency care. Demonstration and Hands-on Training
of Different types of carries, common medical emergencies and bandaging techniques
were also included among the topics.
Participants seriously listened and were very eager to learn the said training. Now they are ready to perform the skills that will enable them to take action properly when disaster
comes unexpectedly.
