The Local Government Unit of Gigaquit staged the 3rd Gakit Festival with the theme "Paghatag ug bili sa Kinaiyahan, maoy tinubdan sa Kalampusan" last April 8, 2012 at Gigaquit Beach. The event was held to give credit to the two combined words "higad" "gakit" which the Gigaquitnons believe are the roots of the name of GIGAQUIT. There are lots of GAKIT related contests like GAKIT MAKING, GAKIT RACING, and GAKIT BEAUTIFICATION participated by clustered barangays.
