Several teachers and professors from University of the Philippines-Davao visited and conducted a research last May 17, 2012 regarding our locally-made wine product "Las-Ay" or what is betterly known as GIGAQUIT RHUM. The research is about how it is being processed , bottled and then sold in the market.
The said researchers went to Gigaquit Agra Multipurpose Cooperative (GIAMUPCO)where the wine is being processed and bottled.
The head of the cooperative and several personnel lectured and answered the questions of the researchers regarding the wine making process.
After the research the visitors were toured into the island tourist spots of the municipality. They were accompanied by the Mun. Tourism Staffs and also with Capt. Eddie Neuda of Gigaquit. The group went on island-hopping and stopped to bathe on the pristine waters of Nagubat Island. It is also known for its white sand shores.
The professors-teachers expressed their profoundest gratitude for the generosity and hospitality shown by the Gigaquitnons during and after the course of their study. They promised to return to Gigaquit and bring with them their students as well.
