Tourism Promotion in Mahanub

Last November 23, 2008 the Gigaquit LGU lead by Mayor Egay conducted a tourism information drive in Barangay Mahanub. This barangay has some tourism potential as this is proximate to Putian Falls as well as the gateway to the beautiful Palilihan Mountain View.

LGU Officials Visited MRF

The local government officials of Gigaquit lead by Vice-Mayor Felixberto Jala made a survey of the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in the Surigao del Norte Provincial Jail last December 2, 2008. This activity was very educational and will pave the way for Gigaquit Municipality to build its own Matarials Recovery Facility.

DA Water Quality Testing

The Department of Agriculture through its Municipal Road Development Project (MRDP) and National Cultural and Indigenous People (NICP) programs conducted an assistance mission in Gigaquit last November 20, 2008. They included water quality testing to help the fish pond farmers manage their livelihoods better.

Speakers: Jeferson Tito and Ronnie Asura - Family Welfare Officers

“Financial Literacy Campaign Values, Reorientation and Program Advocacy” is the theme for the activity. The main reason is the families of OFW's must give enough effort for the deliberation about proper investments due to lack of financial literacy. This could really help not only the overseas workers but their families left behind. These OFW's and their families must be the first in acquiring literacy for guiding and managing finances.

The said event was very successful and fruitful for the cooperation of LGU it was greatly acknowledge by the hearts of the town folks.

Baoy Tourism Information Drive

This tourism information drive was held in Baoy, Gigaquit last November 16, 2008 for the purpose of drumming up support in developing Baoy as a tourism area. Among the potential attractions are Cuyapnit cave, mountain climbing, kayaking, cliff climbing and a vacation inn.
