Caraga Regional Hospital lead Mission


The Caraga Regional Hospital lead the Presidential Gov't Mobile Action (PGMA) mission in Gigaquit last November 14, 2008. Present were staff from Manila including the NBI, SSS, GSIS, PCSO, DA, DAR, etc. all part of the PGMA initiative. The people received well the variety of assistance as shown by a huge crowd who attended. Gigaquit is only one of the four towns in the Surigao del Norte mainland who enjoyed this assistance.

DILG Gigaquit Workshop 2008

The Department of the Interior and Local Governments (DILG) held its Workshop last September 12, 2008 in Doot Beach related to the Strengthening of Barangay-based Institutions. This event was attended by no less than the DILG Regional Director Atty. Rene K. Burdeos and other ranking DILG personnel. This was made possible through the efforts of DILG Provincial Director Rudy Nasi, a loyal son of Gigaquit.

The Beginning of Gigaquit Solid Waste Management

The Gigaquit Solid Waste Management Campaign was kicked-started last September 12, 2008 beginning with Barangay Alambique. This project is vigorously led by Mr. William Enario (Municipal Environmental Officer) and Mr. Marcelino Verano (Municipal Agricultural Officer) with strong support from other local government officials like Mr. Ersalito Babia (Municipal Sanitary Officer). The September 12 event was successful due to full cooperation from Barangay Alambique leadership headed by Barangay Chairman Eddie Neuda.
